Sustainability

Sustainability, without the greenwash.

We’re a small, engineer-led Sheffield firm — not a multinational with a net-zero department, and we won’t claim a carbon-neutral badge we haven’t earned. But cutting waste is built into how we work, because the most useful thing an IT provider can do for the planet is also the most useful thing it can do for you: waste less kit, less energy and less money.

Hardware lifecycle

Get the most out of the kit you’ve already bought.

The biggest environmental cost in IT usually isn’t the electricity — it’s the manufacturing and disposal of hardware. So we have honest conversations about how long a solution should realistically last, and then work to extend that safely, without introducing security or reliability risk.

You replace something when there’s a genuine reason — it’s out of support, it can’t be secured, or it’s honestly holding the business back — not because a vendor’s refresh cycle says it’s time. That gets the most from your investment and keeps serviceable equipment out of landfill. When kit does reach the end of its life, we handle it responsibly: secure data wipe first, then reuse, resale or WEEE-compliant recycling rather than the skip.

Day to day

Less waste, built into the work.

Small, practical choices that lower a footprint and a bill at the same time — usually the same decision.

Energy, switched off

We script and automate powering equipment down out of hours, so machines aren’t burning electricity overnight for no one. Sensible power policies as standard, not an afterthought.

Right-sized cloud

In Azure and Microsoft 365 we switch off idle resources, right-size what’s left and review consumption — lower carbon and a lower bill from the very same change.

Fewer miles

Most of what we do is delivered remotely, so there are far fewer engineer miles than a drive-to-everything model. We come on-site when it genuinely helps, not by default.

A lighter website

Even this site is built to be light: static pages, self-hosted fonts, and no third-party trackers or ad scripts quietly loading in the background.

Lived, not laminated

It’s personal, too.

This isn’t a policy written to win tenders. Our founder gets around Sheffield on foot and by bike, leans on public transport, and only drives when there’s no sensible alternative. Recycling and cutting waste are second nature, and time off often means volunteer conservation work out in the Peak District. The values on this page are simply the ones we already live by.

Straight with you

What we’re not claiming.

We’re not carbon-neutral, and we won’t buy a badge to look like we are. We don’t run offset schemes we can’t stand behind. If we ever pursue a formal environmental standard, we’ll say so plainly and show the evidence — the same way we treat every other claim on this site. Until then, this is simply what we do, honestly described.

For your procurement team

Need this for a tender?

If a supplier questionnaire or tender asks about our environmental approach, get in touch and we’ll give you the detail you need — in writing, and without the buzzwords.
